Montreal's Carter highlights CFL's best
Nov 4, 2014 - 5:23 PM Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Duron Carter, Edmonton Eskimos linebacker J.C. Sherritt, Hamilton Tiger-Cats kick returner Brandon Banks and Ottawa RedBlacks defensive lineman Justin Capicciotti were named the Canadian Football League Players of the Week for Week 19.Carter was named the Offensive Player of the Week after hauling in 11 passes for 181 yards with a touchdown in the Alouettes' 17-14 playoff-clinching victory over the Argonauts in Montreal.
Sherritt, the Defensive Player of the Week, recorded seven tackles, a career- high three sacks, a special teams tackle and a forced fumble as the Eskimos registered a convincing 37-3 home win over the BC Lions.
Banks, the Special Teams Player of the Week, compiled 118 combined-return yards and notched the first kickoff return touchdown of his career as Hamilton won 34-25 in the nation's capital.
Capicciotti was named the Canadian Player of the Week after tallying four tackles and a pair of sacks in the RedBlacks' loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
