North Dakota's McIntyre wins Richter Award
Apr 10, 2015 - 5:20 PM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - North Dakota's Zane McIntrye was named the winner of the Mike Richter Award as the top goaltender in Division I hockey.The junior was presented the award by Richter at a press conference on Friday at Boston's TD Garden, the site of the 2015 Frozen Four.
McIntyre led the nation in wins this season, going 29-10-3 with a 2.05 goals- against average and .929 save percentage, and backstopped North Dakota to a second straight Frozen Four. Its season ended with a 5-3 loss to Boston University in the national semifinals on Thursday.
The Minnesota native was selected by the Boston Bruins in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
St. Lawrence's Kyle Hayton, Michigan State's Jake Hildebrand, Yale's Alex Lyon and Michigan Tech's Jamie Phillips were the other finalists.
